Do you want to write a message to a cute girl, who is not in your friend list? It is possible to do so, but most certainly, your letter will get into a folder, called Other, that nobody checks (although, it can get into Inbox thanks to some unknown rules of filtration). In order to solve this problem Facebook decided to meet its users halfway and now offers them to deliver a message into inbox just for one dollar. Meet the new Facebook service: delivery of your message to strangers just for one dollar.
Delivery of paid messages is introduced as an experiment and is practiced so far in USA only (both the sender and the recipient must be from the USA). Facebook claims that in such way it checks how economic stimulus allows to separate useful information from spam. Indeed, it is too expensive for spam, so for 1 dollar people will share only useful information and no spam.
Perhaps, it would be ideal for Facebook to be paid for every message in the social network. Spam and Ads would cost less and private messages would cost more.
Simultaneously Facebook cancels an old setting “Who can send me messages”. Instead there are two types of filtration: “Basic” and “Strict”. Paid messages will be delivered to you, no matter what type of filtration you choose.
The new premium service logically complements a number of other ways of monetization of Facebook auditory that is already more than one milliard people. Previously the company has introduced a gift delivery service (in USA), and an opportunity to promote your message through the filtration system so that it could be seen by all friends (the service costs 7 dollars).
