Quora launches blogs to simplify readers reach for the authors

 There are plenty of experts on Internet whose insights are not read at all and they think like, “There is no way easy way to promote my blog”. Quora’s new feature promises to draw readers’ attention and help authors with blog promotion. It is a new blogging platform which automatically delivers posts to subscribers. Thanks to specific Quora’s characteristics and new mobile editor, anybody, even a newbie, who has something to share, won’t be daunted by the question “How to promote my blog?”, and will be able to find the readers.

So how to promote your blog with Quora’s new feature? According to company representatives, Quora blogs, first of all, will be interesting for two types of authors. The first type is authors with a small number of Twitter followers – they have something to say but simply don’t have time to grow the audience. The second – official bloggers, who want to get additional platform to share the information. Unlike other platforms, they won’t be able to place ads on Quora, but they will have the chance to reach out to educated audience, spending its time there.

Marc Bodnick, who is in charge of Quora marketing, community and business operations, says a new platform has an advantage over social networks – any old post which receives new votes is returned to the news feed and still helps promote your blog, while in social networking sites such posts disappear forever.

If an author covers different topics in his articles, each post will be sent to only those readers, who it will interest.  For example, a programmer can make a post about comics and this post will feature in the news feed of superheroes fans.

The company reports that active authors receive over 30 000 views per month and 350 000 views within a year. The most hard –working participants can get around 1 million views annually, and the best replies go viral and gather tens of thousands views.  It seems that Quora is intended to make revolution passing such audience to bloggers, either beginners or experienced ones.  So the best tip on how to promote blog on Quora would be to create engaging content with readers in mind.

From now on Quora users may create as many blogs and posts within a platform, as they wish. Posts can be submitted from network or mobile devices. According to Bodnick’s words, 25 % of the traffic and most of the content comes from mobiles, so the company has also updated text editor for mobile devices, which now offers a full set of options for text and image editing.  To promote blogs authors can tag their posts, choosing from 300 topics any which matches the content. 

Quora’s news feed will feature only the best entries outside the category “answer question”, so that not to overload it and turn away regular readers. The more comments and votes a certain entry will receive, the more users will share it, consequently the larger audience will see it.  

Quora blogs may substitute Quora Boards  – a platform which allows people to publish different from “answer question” content and is frequently used as another platform for blogs. Probably, new Quora feature will outperform it.

It may be assumed that Quora blogs will be the first step of its monetization and will trigger the company growth, where things are not so good so far. If the news feed includes other than “answer question” entries, Quora will be able to place ads in the form of sponsored posts. For instance, the post about special effects in Batman movie could be sponsored by Warner Bros, to rouse the interest to the movie.

Let us remind you, that according to the research conducted by Wave 6, Ukrainian internet users visit social networks for two main reasons: to stay in touch with people and entertain themselves. Users in the age between 45 and 54 are the least likely to use social networking sites for fun.
