Why Working with GA4 Became More Complicated

Since the launch of Google Analytics 4 and its new interface, understanding analytics has become significantly more challenging. The data collection methodology has also changed — we covered this in detail in one of our previous articles.

In particular:

  • The new interface lacks the convenient reports that previously allowed for quick website data analysis.
  • Google Analytics 4 stores data for only 14 months (user-level data is not retained), unlike Universal Analytics, which had no storage limits.
  • The new sampling rules in GA4 prevent a complete view of data, as reports are now based on samples rather than the full dataset.
